After quite a few years in the sun, snow and harsh colorado climate, the owners of this house decided to update the deck a little. While the original footprint was functional, the wanted some more room in the afternoon sun, as well as a place to store firewood. What they DIDNT want was a big monstrosity of a deck that overpowered the front of the house, or impose on the southern view. We came up with a design that adds space affordably, and incorporates all of their needs, while staying well within their budget. So much so that we've added a under-deck drainage system and are going to stain and pressure wash the house to complete the transformation. Follow along as we go.

Were almost done laying down the Trex "Rain Escape" and the decking is ready to go. Now for the really fun part. The owners have decided to incorparte a set of log stairs, similar to the ones we did on the Bailey house. This time however were going to use steel stringers instead of wood. Should look fantastic!

Heres where were starting. With metal provided by Dencol Steel in Denver, The C-channels are cut and the clips that support the treads are welded on. Not only can Bill operate a chainsaw with precsion, he's pretty handy with a welder too!

With the stairs done (sans rail) we can begin to wrap up the railing and the remaining pieces. The owner has decked to utilize a wire mesh for the railing. Still meeting the code requirements for safety, but it almost disappears when viewed from any angle!
