With a Mount Logan view from the rear deck, this quaint ranch house says "Peace" from the moment you drive up the aspen lined drive. With a simple, spacious floorplan and lots of windows, the home was designed to blend in with the surroundings, and be built with as little impact to the surroundings as possible. A different (though not unfamiliar) venture for us, this house is built using structural insulated panels (or SIPS) provided by ICS, one of the premier panel companies out there today. There's panels and then there's panel SYSTEMS, and these guys have it engineered to a science. Right now the subfloor is down, and the panels will be arriving on Tuesday. Watch how fast things come together!

Day 1. Here is where were starting. the subfloor is down, level, and ready to be built on. We laid sill plates and were awaiting the panels arrival.

Day 2 Fall snow leads to less-than-ideal-roads. The panel truck is stuck, and after some "persuasion" is pulled to the site. (You are correct, there is nothing that Bill wont attempt to pull with his truck!)

Day 2 (continued) After a late start, we got the panels sorted, stacked and began assembly. As usual, the panels from ICS fit perfetly, and we were able to assemble over 50% of the wall in just the first few hours!

Day 3. Bill working on the panel layout

Day 3 (cont) the remainder of the walls are in place, and roof framing has begun. Thats right, in three days, the walls and 60% of the roof are in place. The advantage of panels is begining to show.

Day 4 Roof panels have begun, and were working hard to beat an impending snowstorm...After all, the owners are paying us to build a house, not shovel snow. The weather cooperates and were able to get almost 80% of the roof in place.

Day 5- Framing is complete. The advantages of QUALITY panels sytems are readily apparent. In 5 days we went from a subfloor to a dried-in shell, already insulated and exterior electrical chases in place. Ready for window installation, vapor barrier and siding. next to come are the interior walls so the plumber and electrician can get started and the roofing and trim, so we can button up the exterior.
